Protecting My Child’s Future
Wednesday, December 7, 2011 13:38When I first became a parent, I had no idea how much work it would involve. When you consider that our role as parents covers a wide range of duties including teaching, providing, and preparing our children for their adult lives, being a parent all of a sudden becomes a much larger task than we originally imagined. For myself, this was a job that I took seriously the moment I my wife became pregnant for the first time. I wanted the best for my child and I wanted them to have the best life possible.
But how do you protect and look out for your kids for their entire lives? Well, the truth of the matter is that you can’t predict every single situation, but you can try to do your best and do what you can to help them out. Whether it is something as simple as preserving their cord blood so that they can battle cancer, or putting away money from each of my paychecks so that they can go to college one day, most of my decisions revolve around how I can make my children’s lives better than my own.
I think that I take my role as a parent very seriously, but I often wonder how many people would choose not to be parents if they realized how much work was involved. For me, it is a labor of love, and watching my kids grow up is one of the most wonderful gifts I have ever received.
